  • EXTREMELY INVASIVE in Australia and New Zealand — declared a noxious weed across most states/regions, banned in many. Eradication is virtually impossible once established. Do not plant outside its native UK/European range.
  • Highly flammable — major contributor to bushfire fuel loads in invaded landscapes
  • In its native range, an important early-pollen and shelter plant for wildlife
