Ranunculus asiaticus

Mediterranean and southwest Asian tuberous perennial with deeply divided basal leaves and tall stems of densely double rose-like flowers in white, yellow, pink, red, orange, and almost-black through spring.

Growing notes

  • Plant claw-like tubers in autumn (mild climates) or early spring (cooler climates), claws pointing down, soaked overnight before planting
  • Among the most prized of all spring cut flowers — multiple-petalled rose-like flowers with long vase life
  • Lift after foliage yellows and store dry until next planting
  • Cloni series cultivars are the modern florist-grade selections with the largest flowers and longest stems
