About Lemon drop mangosteen
The lemon drop mangosteen is a Central American relative of the purple mangosteen rather than the same fruit, and the resemblance is in the genus and the segmented flesh rather than in flavour — this one is sharply citrus-like, which is the origin of its various trade names. It belongs to Garcinia, a large tropical genus that also includes the source of gamboge pigment. Like many of its relatives it is slow to come into bearing from seed and is a genuinely tropical plant, intolerant of frost at any stage.
