Growing notes
- Plant against a sheltered wall — flowers continuously from June to first frost, each flower lasts a single day
- Distinct from the medicinal Passiflora incarnata (already in the database) — blue passionflower has blue-and-white flowers rather than purple, and is grown ornamentally rather than medicinally
- Orange-yellow egg-shaped fruits follow flowers — edible but bland, unlike the true passion fruit Passiflora edulis
- Vigorous — capable of covering 6 m, cut back hard in late winter if needed
