About Rose (hybrid tea)
Hybrid tea roses are the classic florist's rose — one large flower on a long straight stem — and they date only from the later nineteenth century, when European roses were crossed with repeat-flowering tea roses brought from China. That single introduction of repeat-flowering genes transformed rose growing, because European roses had largely flowered once a season. Almost all garden roses are budded onto a rootstock, which is why suckers arising from below the graft union come up as a different and usually inferior rose if left to grow.
