- Plant against large walls or pergolas where space allows it to spread — vigorous, capable of suckering and climbing 10 m or more
- Outstanding hummingbird forage in its native range — flowers continuously through July and August
- WARNING: Aggressive sucker spreader — sends out underground runners up to 10 m, can colonise lawns and adjacent beds, install root barriers or accept the spread
- Sap can cause skin irritation in sensitive people — handle with gloves
