Growing notes
- Flowers December–March in much of the Northern Hemisphere — the winter-flowering counterpart to autumn-flowering C. hederifolium
- Tolerates dry shade once established — ideal under deciduous trees and shrubs
- Naturalises by seed (ants disperse the sticky seeds) — leave fading flowers in place to set seed
- Buy started corms or seed-grown plants rather than dry tubers — dry tubers are unreliable
Pet caution: Eastern cyclamen is listed as potentially harmful to cats and/or dogs. Keep pets from grazing on it, and contact a vet if you suspect your animal has eaten some.
